KARL FITZGERALD-SLOMAN

Karl Sloman is a well-known drummer from Ontario, Canada. Karl has formally studied with Dom Famularo, Jim Chapin and Joe Morello, in addition to many other accomplished musicians. He is the author “The Coordination Code’ (Alfred Publishing 2012) and occupies his time as a clinician, member/producer of the band Opus Rex and Trainwreck a band that highlights people with disabilities, all this while serving as a full time artillery officer (appropriate for a drummer) in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Karl has been associated with Headhunter drumsticks since 2008 and became an endorser in 2016. Karl has always used our Groove Line and recently switched from Maple to Hickory. This is no surprise as he plays progressive metal music and wanted durability in his sticks. Karl says “ the Groove line is fantastic, it has wonderful balance and due to it’s light weight allows me to move around the kit with lightning speed and facility.”

Karl is a staple at many drum events including: Kosa, NAMM, PASIC, Chicago Drum Show etc.

When you hear Karl play you will notice “controlled intensity.” He is physically a big guy but his size belies his sheer speed and finesse on the drums. Having studies with Jazz Masters his technique is excellent which he applies to the music he plays which is Progressive Rock/Metal.

He is endorsed by: Tama, Evans, Dream Cymbals, Polecat Percussion, Pintech Electronics and of course Headhunter Drumsticks.

TYSE BURROWS

Tyse Burrows is the keyboardist and one of the founding members of Opus Rex. He met Karl and Graehme through private teaching and more recently their involvement within various projects (Bipolar Feedback, ex-Autocratic Oath). Tyse began classical piano training at age 3 and private drum lessons at 11. This sparked his interest in music, specifically through his involvement with a high-school jazz combo. Tyse is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario's music department (percussion and composition)and performs in a number of different musical projects. These include Boreal the Sky (ex-The Phusion), Derek Stocking Group, Bipolar Feedback, as well as solo electronic, classical and ambient works.

Tyse’s writing influences range from progressive rock/metal (Haken, Mars Volta, Steven Wilson, Frank Zappa) to electronic (Chvrches, Samuel Jackson Five, Nine Inch Nails, Nerve) to indie (Bosnian Rainbows, Half Moon Run, Raconteurs). Notable influences for Tyse’s approach to the keyboard include Jordan Rudess (of Dream Theater), Chick Corea, Tony Banks (Genesis) and Adam Holzman (ex-Miles Davis, Steven Wilson).

GRAEHME FLOYD

Graehme Floyd is a guitarist, composer, clinician, entrepreneur, teacher, and music coach based in London, Ontario, Canada.

With more than 8 years of teaching experience, Graehme has worked to help hundreds of guitarists of varying age and skill level. By providing support beyond mere teaching, including educating, training, coaching, and mentoring, Graehme has helped his students to reach their goals and take their playing to higher levels of excellence.

At the age of 8, Graehme began his musical training with the piano. After 5 years, he moved to the guitar when he discovered the music of Metallica. Since then, Graehme has expanded his musical knowledge extensively and has developed a thorough understanding and application of classical and jazz theory, voice leading and harmony, advanced improvisation, virtuoso technique, composition, music business, and artist development.

Graehme began performing professionally at the age of 16 and has worked with numerous professionals and bands including the symphonic metal bands Avidas and Autocratic Oath, and the progressive Rush/Dream Theater cover band Falling into Infinity. Graehme currently plays guitar with the heavy metal band Opus Rex.

Outside of the LCCM, Graehme also runs on guitar-focused YouTube channel and offers additional specialized guitar programs, courses, and books that on his website.
